EUROPEAN TREIBBALL START 2025, Tachyon Sport Arena, Čerčany, 15. 3. 2025
This year we have been again the main organizers of the EUROPEAN TREIBBALL START (co-organizers were Jiří Čedík
and Pavla Hejčová Langová). EUROPEAN TREIBBALL START 2025 (ETS) was a major European treibball event, which was
attended by 63 teams from 4 countries (Czech Republic: 27, Italy: 18, Hungary: 12 and Germany: 6). The evening
before the race, the meeting was held on the European rules and races, which was attended by representatives of
4 countries.
Due to the positive response from the last year's ETS, having in mind the large international participation and
the meeting on European rules, we decided to repeat in the SMART a task called MIX, which was a mix of elements
from various European rules. This year, in addition to the pyramid in the FAST run, we have offered in the SMART
run MIX of SMART elements contained in the Czech, Hungarian, Italian, French and German freestyle rules, and the
SEND variant from the German VDH rules. The race organized in this way provided equal conditions and an equal
chance of victory for teams from different European countries that train according to different rules. This
approach allowed the participants to try in real life at one place how the races in different European countries
look like, which made them well prepared for the initial meeting on European rules.
The revised
Rules for Treibball Exams and Races,
enriched with the
Catalogue of the Treibball Elements,
which is used to compile tasks in the SMART run,
premiered at the ETS race.
Considering the international nature of the entire event, we started preparing for it well in advance and very
carefully. In addition to beautiful trophies and name tags with the competition logo, we also had T-shirts and
sweatshirts prepared. This year in two versions: with the ETS logo for foreign competitors and with the TREIBBALL
ČR logo for the Czech national team. We prepared homemade Czech cakes and tested Czech dishes in a restaurant
next to the hall. The test turned out excellent.
The representation of breeds was very varied: Australian Kelpie, English Cocker Spaniel, Beauceron, Border Collie,
Entlebuch Cattle Dog, Italian Greyhound, Irish Red Setter, Jack Russel Terrier, Dachshund, Golden Retriever,
Labrador Retriever, Schnauzer, Malinois, Miniature American Shepherd, Mudi, Portuguese Water Dog, Small Poodle,
Pyrenean Shepherd, Scottish Collie, Welsh Corgi and several mixed breeds
On Friday before the race, we met for a joint training with the Italian, Hungarian and German participants. They
were all well prepared, but they needed the dogs to get used to the specific environment of the hall before the
race. We also corrected a few formal mistakes resulting from the different rules. Friday evening was dedicated
to preparing the playing field for the race and discussing the European rules and competitions. After a recap
of the history of treibball by Anja Jakob, who has been actively practicing treibball since 2008, representatives
of all 4 participating countries presented their rules and planned international competitions. Some countries
(Germany and Italy) had 2 presentations because they organize competitions according to more rules.
All presentations are available
here.
The race took place on Saturday. Thanks to generous sponsors and many participants, we could afford not only the
rental of the luxurious hall, but also beautiful trophies with the ETS logo and prizes for the competitors. This
year, our traditional sponsors TRADING M&K, BAUER Cups and PROFESSIONAL SOUND were joined by a new sponsor BAPU
Healthy Dog Treats.
The participants greatly appreciated the variety of the included elements and the opportunity to try the MIX of
tasks from various European rules. We saw many beautiful performances and the race had a pleasant and friendly
atmosphere. Treibball is still a small sport where almost everyone knows each other, cheers for each other and
supports each other.
Aisha made us very happy. Even though she is still in very good condition at her age of 12, we have moved her
to class 2 at the beginning of this year, where she has shorter distances and fewer balls. She ran both runs
cleanly and quickly and deservedly won her 2 M category. We were also pleased with the beautiful performances
of other teams from Pesopark. The team from Pesopark was very successful and won 5 first, 2 second, 2 third and
2 fourth places. Our other teams also performed very well, but in the heavily populated categories it was not
enough for medal positions. We would like to thank them for their preparation, participation and representation
of our training group.
Complete race results
We would like to thank all the participating teams for the pleasant and relaxed atmosphere at the race, their
amazing discipline and punctuality, and the careful preparation for the races. We would like to thank Karina
Divišová for the opportunity to organize the race in the beautiful environment of the Tachyon Sport Arena and
for her perfect cooperation in preparing the races, and for the great service of her team during the event.
We would like to thank Jirka Čedík and Pavla Hejčová Langová for judging the races and Pavel Hejč for the
professional sound for the entire event. Thanks to Petra Jirošová and her very well-coordinated team, everything
ran smoothly and without delays, which was very important at such a big race. We would like to thank Jiří Dušek,
Míla Dušková and Silvia Gunárová for preparing the playing field before the race. We would like to thank Pavla
Černáková and Kačka Bechyňová for the health check of the dogs and the sensitive measurement of the dogs and
the check of the chips. Thanks to the language skills of Jirka Čedík and Vivien Davidová, we were fully trilingual,
which was a bonus that was greatly appreciated by the numerous foreign participants of the race. We would like
to thank Martin Zobač for the wonderful photos.
We are happy about the positive feedback of the participants, and we look forward to the next meeting at the
EUROPEAN TREIBBALL START 2026 on 28.2.2026.
On Sunday after the race, our Italian treibball friends and Jirka Čedík with his wife Monika came to our house
for lunch. We followed up on our last year's stay in Verona. At that time, Claudia and Luigi invited us to their
house with a beautiful garden for Italian specialties, so we were happy to have the opportunity to invite them
to our house and offer them our Czech specialties. The Italian visitors to our place of course had to try the
Vepřo knedlo zelo
and this Czech "miracle" was a great success, as was the dessert: sweet dumplings with homemade apple and plum
jams and whipped cream. And because the meeting of treibball players cannot be complete without treibball, Vicky
and Joy tried treibball at the Forest Garden before their long way back home.
