WORLD TREIBBALL EXPERIENCE 2025, Spiaggia Romea, Italy, 8.6.2025
At the beginning of June, we participated in the World Treibball Experience 2025 not only as competitors,
but also as co-organizers, judges and instructors. The international treibball competition called the World
Treibball Experience 2025 had its premiere this year and it was held at the beginning of the larger event,
the Dog Sport Experience, which is a festival dedicated to dogs taking place annually at the beginning of
June at the Spiaggia Romea in Italy. It is a week-long event organized by the major Italian sports association
FIDASC in cooperation with the corporation for the support and promotion of sports CSEN. The festival lasts
one week and CSEN rents the entire area for the duration of the festival, so the Spiaggia Romea resort belongs
only to dog sports for the whole week. As you can see on the event map, the offer of dog sports at the Dog
Sport Experience is very rich. This year there was a range of 18 sports and 1300 people came to the event
per day. Participants came from 10 countries. The international participation undoubtedly increased the
inclusion of international competitions at the beginning of the event. International competitions in hoopers
(Hoopers International DSE Cup), treibball (World Treibball Experience) and junior agility competition
(International Junior Cup) took place here. After the international competitions, it was possible to attend
lessons with foreign and Italian instructors during the week. The choice was amazing: the offer included
a total of 2,700 lessons. At the end of the week, competitions in various sports were included, which were
part of a cycle of many competitions in which Italian teams collect points in various sports for participation
in the final final competitions of the Italian Championship, which take place in December. However, foreign
teams could also take part in the competitions.
The place where the event takes place is exceptionally beautiful. Spiagggia Romea is surrounded by the sea,
but in addition, there is a huge lake and a large swimming pool inside the complex. Dogs are really welcome
here, and the following formulation is definitely not just an advertising slogan: "At Spiaggia Romea, we
believe that a holiday is more enjoyable when you can spend it with your dog. Our resort welcomes dogs of
all sizes and provides them with special services that will make their stay with us more enjoyable: from
a welcome package to special dog beds in the rooms, so that your dog feels at home with us". The welcome
package is where the above-standard services for dogs begin, but it certainly do not end. The dog beach here
is not a poorly accessible, unmaintained and unequipped piece of beach somewhere off to the side, as is the
case in many seaside resorts. Not only people, but also dogs have their own dog beds here and the dog areas
are enclosed by fences. After swimming in the sea, there are special showers for dogs that are pleasant.
There are no high buildings in the area, only low houses set in greenery. Cars are not allowed in the area,
they must be left in a nearby parking place and your belongings must be transported either on a handcart or
by using an electric car with an attendant. There are mature trees everywhere providing plenty of shade.
Large lawns for walking with dogs are not at all common in seaside resorts, but they are here. The food and
drinks in the restaurant and adjacent bar are excellent. Full board also includes good wine.
The World Treibball Experience 2025 was the first international treibball race held under the umbrella
of the Dog Sport Experience. The main organizer Ramona Nisi approached us with an offer to cooperate on
this event already in April 2024 at the international treibball competition European Treibball Start 2024.
We have been preparing the event together for a long time and it was a wise decision. Treibball does not
yet have official international rules recognized by the FCI. The European Mix model has proven very successful
at large international competitions. It is a combination of elements from various European treibball rules,
which is fair because it provides fair conditions for participants from different countries. Everyone finds
something familiar here and must learn something new. The races are varied and at the same time they test
which elements are/are not suitable for inclusion in the future uniform European rules. We have successfully
implemented this model at several international races in Czechia, but they have always been races judged
according to our rules with the incorporation of elements from foreign rules. The Italian model was much
more ambitious: the SMART run was designed according to Czech rules and judged by Czech judges, the FAST
run was designed according to Italian rules and judged by Italian judges. It was a combination that was
very attractive for the competitors, but very demanding for the organizers. In cooperation with the Italian
organizing team, we changed the results processing system and repeated tests and adjustments were carried
out in advance, so that everything went smoothly on site.
The Czech team was quite large. A total of 11 Czech teams wore the national dress with the TREIBBALL ČR logo
in Italy and they performed excellently. In the overall ranking (sum of both runs), they took 4 x 1st place,
3 x 2nd place and 1 x 3rd place.
Aisha ran two clean runs in the 2M class and certainly deserved the first place, even though she was alone
in the M category. She would have won by a wide margin even if all categories in class 2 had been evaluated
together. We were also pleased with other teams from Pesopark, who brought back many trophies from Italy for
their placement in the sum of both runs and in individual runs, so they thoroughly enjoyed the closing ceremony,
which was magnificent.
Summary results
Together with Jiří Čedík, we acted as judges at the race and the following day we taught treibball in the
block of foreign instructors. We prepared profile videos for this block. We gained a lot of interesting
experience, and it seemed that the competitors and our students in the course were satisfied, and perhaps
they also got during the race and the training useful experience that will help them to grow. We would like
to thank Jiří Čedík for traveling to Italy despite the fact, that his female dog Pretty was injured just
before the race and could not compete. We would like to thank Ramona Nisi for initiating the entire event
and a lot of time she had to devote to its preparation. We would like to thank Benedetta Urbini for her
cooperation in preparing and tuning the system for evaluating the results of the competitions and for her
cooperation in the evaluation on site. Simona Donatella Boschini had to be very flexible in judging the FAST
run according to the common evaluation system, for which we also thank her. It was nice to sit down in the
evening after the race with the main organizers of Dog Sport Experience (Francesco Brescia and Massimo Perla),
whom we thank for including the international treibball race under the Dog Sport Experience umbrella and for
the interesting discussion after the race. We received commemorative plaques from the organizers with a very
nice thank you for the time we dedicated to the Dog Sport Experience. We were very happy to dedicate our time
to the preparation of the event. Both World Treibball Experience and the Dog Sport Experience are great and
the time investment in their preparation makes sense. We can highly recommend participation in both events
to everyone interested in treibball or other dog sports.
